She was a member of that country's Historical Clarification Comission, charged with investigating the human rights violations committed during the Central American nation's 30-year-long civil war. She was a member of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at the UN, and she served on UNESCO's Executive Board for the 2004–2007 period.

This wearable artwork has been produced by artisans from the Embera Chami tribe of Colombia. It carries hours of work, calculation and imagination. Through the beadworks we can see a lot of references to colours from the natural environment and the Embera Cosmovision.
