Embera Green Heaven
Embera Chami culture is enormously rich and vast. Our whole project is based on cherishing their incredible talent and survival as a peoples. However more and more Emberas are being forced to flee their rainforest reserves in Colombia’s Choco and Risaralda provinces to escape fighting by armed criminal groups.
Many families travel to the capital scrapped a living together selling handmade jewelry on the street. Having already fled one crisis, they found themselves facing another: the coronavirus pandemic.
We are here for the tribe. And we are proud to commission three large family groups, trading at a fair price for their artworks, a price they set. Ethical business done with heart.
Mami Watta is an artistic movement reconnecting with traditional knowledge, producing unique styles of jewelry and accessories that support the artisanship and hard work of our Indigenous artists.
This wearable artwork has been produced by artisans from the Embera Chami tribe of Colombia. It carries hours of work, calculation and imagination. Through the beadworks we can see a lot of references to colours from the natural environment and the Embera Cosmovision.
